If you like visiting museums and galleries, most places in Pasadena and LA will have at least one day during the month where they offer free entry. Here are some places to check out for FREE.
Pasadena: Norton Simon Museum - 1st Fridays (5-8pm) USC Pacific Asia Museum - 2nd Sundays (10am-6pm) Pasadena Museum of California Art - 1st Fridays (12-5pm), 3rd Thursdays (5-8pm). If you show your Metro Card on any other day you get $2 off admission. The Huntington - Free day tickets (1st Thursday) can be reserved at 9am on 1st of the month for entry the following month. These sell out very quickly.
Los Angeles: LACMA - 2nd Tuesdays The Broad - Permanent exhibition is free, however it is ticketed. Advance tickets sell out very quickly and are available at 12noon on the 1st of the month. MOCA - Every Thursday (5-8pm) Natural History Museum - Free Tuesdays (except in July and August)
